CLOSING CEREMONY OF COHORT 1 AND THE OPENING CEREMONY OF COHORT 2 OF THE IFAD AGRIHUB NIGERIA PROJECT, ABUJA.

The Africa Projects Development Centre (APDC) in collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), under the IFAD Agrihub Nigeria project, held the Cohort 1 closing ceremony and had the inaugural ceremony of the cohort 2 on the 27th of July 2021.
The opening speech was delivered by Dr. Chiji Ojukwu, the managing director who emphasised the importance of key stakeholders contributing to youth capacity and empowerment. He added that ‘’We look forward to more collaboration, bigger interventions, and stronger alliances to support us and the youths of Nigeria to promote their skills in agribusiness” while thanking “all the government agencies, development partners, including representatives of AfDB, IFAD, AGRA, Seeding Africa, etc and financial institutions including Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN)”, who graced the event to support young people to develop their creative ideas and to build back the economy.
The event had a large turnout of dignitaries, captain of industries, honourable members, and international body representatives attending the ceremony of the outgoing and incoming interns, enhancing and stimulating the art of agriprenuership.
Events like this further establish that there is wealth in agriculture, as APDC continues to promote wealth creation through urban farming.
The occasion witnessed award presentation of cash prizes for agribusiness pitch winners and certificates to the outgoing interns who were elated for a successful conclusion of the 10 weeks programme.
Dignitaries of the occasion were Ms. Evelyn Ohanwusi representing Dr. Ken Dashiel Deputy DG IITA Ibadan, Mr. Samuel Alabi representing FADAMA, Hon. Peter Akpatason (Honourable member house of representative) and chairman of Apribet Integrated Green Farms(AIGF), Otti Geoge (Manager Almat Farms), Mrs. Ezeudegbunam Eucharia and Ade Adeoye of (Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project), Seyi Babafemi (Abuja Enterprise Agency), Dr. Patrick Agboma, Mr. Patrick Habamenshi (IFAD country head), Dr. Usman G. Mohammed (former MD/CEO Transmission Company of Nigeria), Professor Joseph Nnanna (Chief Economist, Development Bank of Nigeria).
The closing remark was delivered by Mr. Ibironke Ifedayo, the IFAD Agrihub Nigeria project coordinator.
