The Centre recently hosted a distinguished delegation from the African Development Bank Group, led by Dr. Damian ihedioha , AfDB Manager of the Agribusiness Division at HQ, Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The team also included Dr. Paschal Sanginga, Agriculture & Agro-Industry Regional Manager in Nairobi, Kenya, and Mr. Edson Mpyisi, AfDB Chief Financial Economist for Agriculture and Agro-industry, and Coordinator of the Enable Youth Program.
Members from the Creating Sustainable Youth MSMEs Through Urban Farming (SYMUF) project consortium, including Dr. Chiji Ojukwu from Nigeria's Africa Projects Development Centre (APDC), Professor DR Alex Ariho from Uganda’s African Agribusiness Incubators Network (AAIN), and Noel Mulinganya from DRC’s International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), were also part of the delegation.
The mission aimed to review the progress of the ongoing Creating Sustainable Youth MSMEs through Urban Farming (SYMUF) project, with a focus on deepening and replicating its successes. It also assessed the capacity of consortium members to handle future project implementation opportunities, including the training of project staff.
During the review, discussions revolved around consolidating achievements and expanding the project's reach. Mr. Maaruf Yakub, APDC's Director of Programmes, Policy & Partnerships and SYMUF project coordinator shared insights on implementation strategies, emphasizing the importance of leveraging consortium strengths for future growth. Mrs. Amaka Chime presented other areas of enhancing project efficiency and effectiveness.
In closing, sincere appreciation is extended to the mission team from AfDB, AAIN, IITA, and APDC, including Dr. Dougou KEITA, as well as the Consortium leaders for their valuable contributions to the success of the review.
