Today, APDC was honored to host Mr. Philip Boahen, Lead of Agriculture & Agroindustry at the African Development Bank, for a strategic engagement with our management team, led by our MD, Dr. Chiji Ojukwu.

In a closed-door executive session, discussions centered on one critical, shared priority: scaling youth and women’s enterprises across Africa. 

Moving from the boardroom to the field, Mr. Boahen toured our urban demonstration farms and specialized facilities, which offered a firsthand look at the practical innovations and infrastructure that drive our regional development mandate. From climate-smart agriculture, organic production, and circular economy practices to fashion design and food innovations, APDC proudly powers 12 distinct youth and women-centred enterprises.

Reflecting on the tour, Mr. Boahen noted that APDC’s real strength isn't just in its infrastructure or systems; it is in its people. He spoke of the quiet confidence and clear sense of purpose in youths gyoung people acquiring skills to earn a living and  women gaining economic independence.

He also paid tribute to Dr. Ojukwu’s visionary leadership, highlighting how a deep personal conviction to uplift others turned a vision into a thriving platform for Africa's next generation of farmers, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Rather than stepping back after a successful career, Dr. Ojukwu chose to invest his own time and savings to create opportunities for others—proving that true leadership doesn't wait for a donor or the government to solve a problem. As Mr. Boahen beautifully observed: "In a world where success is often measured by the titles we hold, Dr. Ojukwu reminds us that the greatest measure of success is the number of lives we transform." 

For APDC, this strategic engagement reinforces a powerful truth. Investing in African youth and women’s enterprise infrastructure isn't just development work, it is a strategic economic imperative. When you give people knowledge, skills, and hope, you empower them to feed themselves and, in doing so, you change the future.
