Position Summary
We are seeking a highly strategic Chief Security Officer (CSO) to lead our physical risk and security management. This role is critical for ensuring absolute Duty of Care. You will direct comprehensive physical security protocols, manage operational risk across diverse field environments, and safeguard both our headquarters and community-based physical assets.
Reports to: Director of Administrative Services/Director of Programmes, Policy and Partnerships.
Position Type: Full-Time.
Location: APDC Group Headquarters - Gwagwalada, Abuja, (with the option of field travel).
Duration: Full Time.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contingency plans, and emergency evacuation protocols for staff and physical resources.
- Ensure strict adherence to Duty of Care principles, providing comprehensive physical safety briefings and training to all staff, consultants, and trainees.
- Liaise extensively with local law enforcement, community leaders, and inter-NGO security forums to monitor the regional security landscape.
- Oversee access control, facility security, fleet safety, and hospitality protection.
- Ensure the safe deployment of personnel and physical assets during all youth incubation programmes.
Qualifications and Experience
- A diploma in Security Management, Criminology, Risk Management, or a related physical security discipline.
- A Minimum of 5–10 years of executive leadership in physical security and risk management, specifically within the NGO, humanitarian, or international development sector.
- Deep understanding of the Nigerian and Pan-African physical security landscape, facility protection, and humanitarian safety principles.
- Background in corporate, government, or military security would be an added advantage.

- Familiarity with incident response and investigation techniques.
